Day-to-day life in Aberdeen, NC

Hi all, I'm a remote worker and Crime rate is something to consider -Aberdeen sits at 519.5 per 100K. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 8,969, Aberdeen is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,151 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Hot summers
- Boring for young people
Worth the trade-offs? TIA! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in Downtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- The outdoor recreation scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..
