This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how UrbFact ("we," "us," "our," or the "Company") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information when you access, browse, or otherwise use the website located at urbfact.com, including all subdomains, pages, features, content, applications, and services offered through the website (collectively, the "Site"). This Policy applies to all visitors, users, registered members, and any other persons who access or use the Site in any capacity (collectively, "you" or "users"). By accessing or using the Site in any manner, including but not limited to visiting, browsing, registering an account, submitting a contact form, subscribing to newsletters, or clicking on advertisements, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy in its entirety. If you do not agree to this Policy, you must immediately discontinue all use of the Site. We reserve the right to modify this Policy at any time, and your continued use of the Site following any such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
1. Scope and Applicability
This Privacy Policy governs the collection and use of information through the Site and applies to all data gathered through the Site, email communications, text messages, and other electronic messages between you and the Site. This Policy does not apply to information collected by any third party, including through any application or content (including advertising) that may link to or be accessible from the Site. Your password is stored exclusively as a one-way cryptographic hash using the bcrypt algorithm with an appropriate cost factor. We never store, log, or have access to your plaintext password. When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message for the sole purpose of responding to your inquiry. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address to deliver periodic updates regarding new data, features, and site improvements. You may unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every email or by contacting us directly.
We want to be transparent about what we do not collect. We do not collect, process, or store Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, passport numbers, financial account numbers, credit or debit card numbers, health or medical information, biometric data, racial or ethnic origin data, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership information, genetic data, or any other categories of sensitive personal information as defined under applicable privacy laws. The city, county, state, metro area, and country data displayed throughout the Site is derived entirely from publicly available government datasets and open data sources, does not contain personal information about any identifiable individual, and is presented solely for informational, educational, and research purposes.
3. Automatic Data Collection Technologies
As you navigate through and interact with our Site, we use automatic data collection technologies to gather certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns. The technologies we use for this automatic data collection include cookies (small files placed on the hard drive of your device), web beacons (small electronic files also known as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs), and server log files that record information about your visit including your IP address, the date and time of your request, the page you requested, the referring page, your user agent string, and the status code returned by the server. We do not sell, rent, lease, trade, or otherwise make available your personal information to any third party for their direct marketing purposes. We have not sold any personal information in the preceding twelve (12) months and have no plans to do so in the future.

We may disclose aggregated, anonymized information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual, without restriction. All statistical, demographic, geographic, economic, environmental, educational, and infrastructure data displayed on the Site is sourced exclusively from publicly available datasets published by United States federal government agencies, Canadian government agencies, international organizations, and reputable open data providers. These sources include, but are not limited to: the United States Census Bureau, specifically the American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates; the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), specifically employment and wage data; the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), specifically the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program; the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), specifically Climate Normals, hurricane tracking data from the National Hurricane Center, tornado data from the Storm Prediction Center, and tsunami event data; the United States Geological Survey (USGS), specifically earthquake event data and the Global Volcanism Program; the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), a division of the U.S. Department of Education, specifically public school and college/university data; the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), specifically hospital provider data; the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), specifically broadcast radio station licensing data; the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), specifically wildfire incident data; Zillow Group Inc., specifically Zillow Home Value Index (ZHVI) data made available through the Zillow Research data portal under Zillow's published terms of use; and GeoNames, a geographical database available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License, which provides city and populated place data for international locations.

Different methodologies, weightings, or data sources may yield different results.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, licensed by, or in any way officially connected with the United States Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the United States Geological Survey, the National Center for Education Statistics, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Federal Communications Commission, the National Interagency Fire Center, Zillow Group Inc., GeoNames, or any other government agency, municipality, county, state, or data provider referenced on this Site. All agency and organization names, logos, and trademarks referenced on this Site are the property of their respective owners and are used solely for purposes of accurate data attribution. 8. Third-Party Services and Integrations

We have no control over the nature, content, privacy policies, terms of service, data collection practices, or availability of third-party websites. When you click on a link to a third-party website, you leave our Site, and your interactions with the third-party website are governed exclusively by that website's own terms and policies. We are not responsible or liable for any damages, losses, or harm arising from your use of, access to, or reliance on any content, goods, services, or information available on or through any third-party website. We recommend that you exercise caution and review the privacy policy and terms of service of every third-party website you visit before providing any personal information or engaging in any transaction.
10. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, as described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Specifically, account registration data (name, email, hashed password) is retained for the duration of your account's existence and will be deleted within thirty (30) days of your request to delete your account or upon account termination, except where retention is necessary for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or compliance with legal obligations. Contact form submissions, including your name, email, and message content, are retained for up to twelve (12) months from the date of submission and are then permanently deleted from our systems. Server access logs, including IP addresses, request URLs, user agent strings, and timestamps, are retained for up to ninety (90) days for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and diagnostic purposes, and are then automatically purged. Newsletter subscription data (email address and subscription preferences) is retained until you unsubscribe or request removal. Google Analytics data is subject to Google's own data retention policies and is currently configured with a retention period of fourteen (14) months, after which individual user-level and event-level data is automatically deleted from Google's servers. Upon expiration of the applicable retention period, personal information is either permanently deleted, anonymized, or de-identified such that it can no longer be associated with you.
11. Data Security
We have implemented and maintain reasonable administrative, technical, organizational, and physical security measures designed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, destruction, loss, or misuse. These measures include, but are not limited to: encryption of all data in transit using HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher; storage of user passwords exclusively as bcrypt cryptographic hashes with appropriate computational cost factors, ensuring that plaintext passwords are never stored, logged, or transmitted; implementation of Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) protection tokens on all forms and state-changing requests; rate limiting on authentication endpoints to prevent brute-force attacks, with automatic lockout after five (5) consecutive failed login attempts for a period of fifteen (15) minutes; enforcement of secure, HTTP-only, SameSite cookie attributes for session management; use of Cloudflare's web application firewall (WAF) and DDoS protection services; regular application of security patches and software updates to the server operating system, web server, PHP runtime, and database software; use of parameterized database queries throughout the application to prevent SQL injection attacks; validation and sanitization of all user input to prevent cross-site scripting (XSS) and other injection attacks; and periodic review of security practices and access controls. Notwithstanding the foregoing, no method of transmission over the Internet, no method of electronic storage, and no security system is impenetrable or can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your personal information, we cannot and do not guarantee the absolute security of your information. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk, and we are not responsible for the circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Site. In the event of a data breach that compromises your personal information, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law.
12. Your Privacy Rights

13. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personal information from anyone under the age of thirteen (13), and we do not knowingly allow such persons to register for an account or use any interactive features of the Site. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of thirteen (13) without verification of parental consent, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our servers. 14. Do Not Track Signals
Certain web browsers may transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals to websites and online services with which the browser communicates. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how companies should respond to DNT signals, and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has discontinued its efforts to develop a DNT standard. Accordingly, the Site does not currently recognize or respond to DNT signals or similar mechanisms. 15. International Data Transfers
The Site is owned and operated from the United States of America. Our servers are located in North America. If you are accessing the Site from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, or any other jurisdiction with data protection laws that differ from those of the United States, please be aware that any personal information you provide to us or that is automatically collected will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and potentially other countries where our service providers maintain facilities. 17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless UrbFact, its owners, operators, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, suppliers, affiliates, successors, and assigns from and against any and all claims, actions, suits, proceedings, liabilities, obligations, damages, losses, costs, debts, and expenses (including but not limited to reasonable attorneys' fees, court costs, expert witness fees, and costs of investigation) arising out of or relating to: (a) your access to or use of the Site; (b) your violation of any term or provision of this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Service; (c) your violation of any applicable federal, state, local, or international law, rule, or regulation; (d) your violation of any rights of any third party, including but not limited to intellectual property rights, privacy rights, and publicity rights; (e) any content, data, or materials you submit, post, or transmit through the Site; or (f) any claim that your use of the Site caused damage to a third party.
