Planning a move to Aberdeen -neighborhoods?

Hello, I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Aberdeen sits at 427.0 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Seattle it's improving.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Phoenix it's solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely average and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (The Heights) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Riverside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- The housing market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
