Hello, It's a a small town city with about 17,040 people. Poverty rate is 16.7%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $225,100 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Aberdeen sits at 427.0 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Any advice would be great. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Denver about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is average in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
