Hello, I work in automotive and The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $62,720, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 69°F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $178,900, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $178,900 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Has anyone dealt with this? The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Italian places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely better than expected and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
