Should I move to Abilene or stay in Chicago?

Hey folks, Been living here since 2007. Median household income is $62,720, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,106/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $62,720 in Abilene. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
