Worst things about Adams nobody talks about

Longtime lurker here, Poverty rate is 17.1%, which is higher than I expected. Median household income is $48,750, which feels on the lower side for the area. The median home value here is around $189,100, which is actually reasonable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low crime in most areas
- Close to nature
- Strong sense of community
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Far from major airports
- Homelessness issues downtown

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 4 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'm a writer and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
