Is Addison a good place to live?

Hey everyone, I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $318,000 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Thanks in advance! The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Austin about 14 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is decent in most areas.
