Living in Addison -the reality

Hey, With a population of 35,470, Addison is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely decent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (South) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Lakewood area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 15 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to New York it's tough.
