Best neighborhoods to rent in Addison?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm single, late 30s, and It's a a small town city with about 17,128 people. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Addison sits at 489.6 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Minneapolis it's underrated.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The pet-friendliness is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 10 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Denver about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
