Moving to Adelanto -what should I know?

Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $68,419, which feels about average for the area. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the West side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Asian.
