Grocery stores in Adelphi -recommendations?

OK so Military spouse here. With a population of 17,210, Adelphi is a small town. Rent is about $1,757/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective. Thanks for reading.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.

No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 50, moved here 2 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Downtown and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Affordable housing options
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Limited shopping options
3. The dating scene situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in construction. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Hope this helps!.

I'm a accountant and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is average and there's always something going on.
