Weekend activities in Adrian?

Alright, I'm single, late 50s, and It's a a small town city with about 1,288 people. With a population of 1,288, Adrian is a small town. Rent is about $729/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $172,000 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Is this normal for Adrian? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2024 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Dallas it's underrated.
