Longtime lurker here, Just moved here 18 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Agawam Town sits at 285.4 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 28,510 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- The community vibe scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much pricey but now it's average.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
