OK so Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. The suburbs are where most families end up. Should I be concerned? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely solid and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (West) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Midtown for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- The nightlife scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
