OK so Been living here since 2021. Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any help is appreciated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Korean.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Thai.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The job market scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for work and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The public transit is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 55, moved here 9 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Midtown and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cost of living situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- The nightlife scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Denver it's excellent.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much pricey but now it's surprisingly good.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
