Is Akron a good place to retire?

My wife and I are planning to retire in the next few years. We're considering Akron because of lower cost of living. Weather is moderate — about 53F average.

Cost of living looks pretty reasonable. How's the healthcare situation? Any retiree communities?

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 15 years and my experience is very similar.

My kids love it here. So many parks and activities. The local food is incredible.

Rent tip: look for places in January-February. Prices drop and there's more availability.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Old Town. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Don't sleep on University District. It's up and coming and still affordable.

I work in healthcare and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 6 months.
