Hey, Born and raised here. Median household income is $48,544, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 190K, Akron is a mid-size city. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Should I be concerned? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in finance. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Happy to answer more specific questions..
