Alright, Rent is about $930/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 53°F, so expect cold winters. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Anyone in a similar situation? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Houston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is improving.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
