Rent vs buy in Alamo -what makes sense?

Anyone else feel this way? Rent is about $3,501/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much stable but now it's improving.

I work in engineering here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Definitely worth checking out..
