Housing in Alamo compared to Minneapolis

Hi all, Average temperature is around 76--F, so it's warm year-round. It's a a small town city with about 20,008 people. Poverty rate is 24.5%, which is higher than I expected. You can expect to pay around $649 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Miami about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
