So, We have two kids and Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What would you do?

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in engineering here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is decent. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much wild but now it's tough.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a HR manager, 50, moved here 11 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Fairview and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The dating scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 9 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
