Best neighborhoods in Alamosa

Anyone else feel this way? Crime rate is something to consider -Alamosa sits at 624.6 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $881 for rent here. The median home value here is around $200,200, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 1.1%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Worth the trade-offs? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've lived in Eastside for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- The public transit scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
