Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 11.4%, which is around average. The weather takes some getting used to. What do you all think? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I work in government here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is improving. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.
