Best areas to explore in Albany?

With a population of 67,939, Albany is a smaller city. Median household income is $45,201, which feels on the lower side for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. What are your go-to spots? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 1 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Cedar Grove. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Hope this helps!.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Mexican places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to San Francisco it's surprisingly good.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The healthcare is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
