First post here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much manageable but now it's underrated.

I've lived in Midtown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The job market scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Uptown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Charlotte about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The outdoor recreation scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Eastside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Springfield) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The food scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.
