Albuquerque for someone in their 50s?

Can we talk about Born and raised Albuquerque. Never left. Home prices averaging is {home_feel}. The community in Old Town is really tight-knit. Talk me through this.

Parent of two in South Valley. Schools are solid here. I feel like {city} is becoming more expensive without getting better.. Would recommend visiting before deciding.

OK since this keeps coming up, here's my definitive Albuquerque guide from someone who's been here way too long.

**Neighborhoods ranked (my opinion):**

Tier 1 (if you can afford it):
- North Valley: trendy, pricey, but worth it
- Sandia Heights: affordable with character

Tier 2 (best value):
- Rio Rancho: hidden gem, locals only know
- Uptown: suburban feel, big yards

Avoid (unless you know what you're doing):
- I won't name names but do your research on anything significantly below market rate

**Cost Reality Check:**
- 1-bed decent area: /mo
- 2-bed decent area: /mo
- Groceries for 2: /mo
- Car insurance: hit or miss compared to national avg
- Utilities: /mo average

**The Honest Truth:**
Grocery prices are creeping up but still manageable.. Albuquerque is pricey but it's not for everyone. If you value space over walkability, you'll love it. If it's the other way around, maybe consider Salt Lake City.

Good luck!

Tier 2 (best value):

**Cost Reality Check:**

**The Honest Truth:**
The airport connections are {adj} which matters if you travel.. Albuquerque is up-and-coming but it's not for everyone. If you value community over walkability, you'll love it. If it's the other way around, maybe consider LA.

Renter's perspective: I think it's fair for the area. I'm in Uptown and it's hit or miss. Definitely shop around though.
