Is Albuquerque still affordable?

The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. It's a a major city city with about 562K people. Poverty rate is 11.8%, which is around average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 13 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
