Thinking about relocating to Alexandria Bay from Cleveland

Curious what people think. My partner and I are Median household income is $50,603, which feels on the lower side for the area. Average temperature is around 44--F, so bundle up in winter. The unemployment rate is 5.1%, which is about average. Poverty rate is 4.3%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Would love some local perspective. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much stable but now it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in marketing here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is better than expected. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 2 years. Moved from Minneapolis for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Far from beaches/mountains. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
