Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Dallas about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Dallas it's better than expected.
