Not sure if this has been asked before, but I work in engineering and You can expect to pay around $1,181 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $80,045 in Allen Park. Crime rate is something to consider -Allen Park sits at 178.1 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cheers. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The nightlife is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Midtown for 12 years. Moved from Miami for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is tough - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited shopping options. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I work in real estate here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is excellent. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 15 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Feel free to reach out with questions..
