Life in Allen as a young professional

Random thought, I relocated for work and Homes are going for about $429,900 on average. Average temperature is around 67--F, so the weather is moderate. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Would love some local perspective. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 10 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
