Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Albuquerque and Rent is about $1,877/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $429,900 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What are your go-to spots? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Houston it's improving.

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely tough and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
