Pros and cons of Allentown after 1 years

So, My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider — Allentown sits at 386.5 per 100K. Rent is about $1,269/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 17.3%, which is higher than I expected. The median home value here is around $188,900, which is actually reasonable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 10 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The public transit is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
