So, I relocated for work and Homes are going for about $188,900 on average. Poverty rate is 17.3%, which is higher than I expected. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Moved here from Houston about 13 years ago. it exceeded my expectations. Still getting used to traffic but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 11 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely improving and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Downtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
