Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a remote worker and The unemployment rate is 5.5%, which is about average. Household incomes average around $53,403 in Allentown. You can expect to pay around $1,269 for rent here. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Riverside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 10 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is underrated.
