Hey folks, I relocated for work and Rent is about $743/month for a decent place. Median household income is $65,599, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $65,599 in Alliance. Crime rate is something to consider -Alliance sits at 305.8 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Portland about 2 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 5 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Not very walkable outside downtown. And public transit can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
