I'm a nurse at the local hospital and It's a a small town city with about 14,023 people. Rent is about $984/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Lakewood area are decent. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Nashville about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..
