Living in Altadena -the reality

Curious what people think. I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $2,250/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 5.3%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
