Anyone else love living in Altamonte Springs?

Hi all, I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $263,600, which seems about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Altamonte Springs sits at 240.0 per 100K. Homes are going for about $263,600 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Strong sense of community
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- Cold winters
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Appreciate any input. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Riverside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Phoenix about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is improving.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
