Hey folks, Just moved here 8 months ago and The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely solid and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 6 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Sunset for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The safety scene is tough
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..
