Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2018. Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. Crime rate is something to consider -Altamonte Springs sits at 240.0 per 100K. With a population of 45,657, Altamonte Springs is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I wrong here? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Old Town for 6 years. Moved from Austin for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Far from beaches/mountains. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much established but now it's average.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
