Anyone else feel this way? You can expect to pay around $1,203 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots? The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I work in real estate here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is tough. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much wild but now it's tough.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 47, moved here 7 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The housing market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for couples. average vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great BBQ places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
