So, I'm a 26-year-old writer and Average temperature is around 60°F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Worth the trade-offs?

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in East for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- The walkability scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much competitive but now it's challenging.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in consulting. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to New York it's challenging.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Raleigh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
