Best neighborhoods to rent in Amarillo?

Hey folks, We have two kids and There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Portland it's better than expected.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The cost of living is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (North) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
