Just moved to Amarillo from Miami — first impressions
We made the move 4 ago and here are my first impressions:
People are genuinely friendly here. Rent runs about $1,049/month for a typical apartment. Weather is moderate — about 60F average.
Biggest surprise: How friendly the neighbors are
Biggest disappointment: Nightlife is limited
Overall, I plan to stay long-term.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

I'd add that the school system has been improving steadily. Otherwise spot on!

Coming from Miami, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are cheaper.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

I've lived in Westside for 8 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 3 years and my experience is very similar.

I work in manufacturing and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 1 months.
