Curious what people think. I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $186,800, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 60°F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Moved here from Dallas about 3 years ago. I genuinely enjoy living here. Still getting used to public transit but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The traffic is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 10 years. Moved from Austin for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited high-paying job options. And school system can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in East for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- The outdoor recreation scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is average in most areas.
