Anyone else love living in Amelia?

Hi all, I'm a teacher here and Median household income is $69,864, which feels about average for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Amelia sits at 40.7 per 100K. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $217,500 on average. Household incomes average around $69,864 in Amelia. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Walkable downtown
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Poor road conditions
- Homelessness issues downtown
Is this normal for Amelia? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to New York it's surprisingly good.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 6 years. Moved from Chicago for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Chain restaurants dominate. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
