Not sure if this has been asked before, but Median household income is $123,935, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a small town city with about 21,698 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The school system scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Korean places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely excellent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Highland) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
