Anyone else feel this way? Homes are going for about $467,900 on average. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a smaller city city with about 35,312 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 46, moved here 11 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in North and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Limited shopping options
3. The public transit situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Phoenix it's surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Cedar Grove. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Southern.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Springfield. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in legal. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The public transit is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
